Raised in Truth —Our Journey to Following the Quran Alone

Who We Are: A Family Returning to Faith

I am Mirela, a mother of two children — a 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy — and another baby on the way, In shaa Allah.

Here, I share our journey of following the Quran alone, raising children in faith, and returning to the natural way Allah created for us. From the way we pray to the food we put on our table, every choice we make is about living simply and trusting Allah more every day.

From Christianity to Islam

I was raised a Christian, and later I married my husband, who was raised Muslim, following both the Quran and Hadiths. Through him, I learned about Allah and the Quran, and I converted to Islam.

At that time, I found Islam made more sense than the Christian belief that God sent Himself to die for human salvation, and evil still exists in the world. Conversion felt natural, as I was only familiar with the basic principles of Islam and not the additional stories introduced by Hadiths.

When We Started Questioning Everything

After COVID, everything changed.

We began questioning what we believed, starting with our faith. We returned to the Quran with a new intention: to read it directly, without relying on interpretations from Hadiths.

We wanted to understand Allah’s words as they are. As we read we fund contradictions in Hadiths, which made it clear to us that they could not be from Allah. So we made a decision: to follow the Quran alone.

Following the Quran alone wasn’t a change that happened in one day. We are still learning and reflecting every single day.

Trusting Allah's Design: Our Choice on Not Vaccinating Our Baby

After the birth of our second child, we made a decision that was not easy: we chose not to vaccinate him.

There was a lot of pressure. Doctors and personnel tried to scare me and make me feel guilty, as if I were putting my child in danger. But I stayed firm. I prayed and asked Allah for guidance and protection. My husband stood by me completely. His support gave me strength in a moment where I felt alone and uncertain.

This experience made us reflect deeply on the system around us. We realized that even when it seems to have a choice, there is often pressure to follow a certain path that isn’t ours. At that time, we didn’t have all the answers, but we chose with our heart which chose to trust that Allah created us in the best form.

Indeed, We created humans in the best form.

And we chose to trust Him.

Healing Without Fermentation

That decision became a turning point for us. It led us to look deeper into everything: our health, our food, and the way we live.

As we returned to the Quran for guidance in all areas of life, we came across the word khamr from the Quran and reflecting on its meaning, we understood it as a warning against fermentation.  That was the moment we began to question fermented foods. We started with yeast (the worst ferment for us) and gradually gave up other fermented foods as well.

At the same time, we began stepping away from medication and relying more on what Allah has provided naturally.

Transforming Our Lives: Results of a Clean Lifestyle

The changes in our diet and lifestyle had a visible impact, especially for my husband:

The changes we made had a visible impact:

  •  my husband lost 30 kg (from 102 to 72-74 kg ),
  • he stopped taking medication for gastric issues,
  • his frequent headaches disappeared without any pills.
Today, he is completely medication-free.

Raising Children in Truth: Faith-Led Home Education

Raising our children in truth and faith is now at the center of our life.

We chose not to follow the traditional school system. Instead, we focus on home education, guiding them with faith and real-life learning.

Here I share:

  • Toddler Emotion Chart & Prayer: How we teach our children to find calm and connect with Allah through prayer, using custom-made tools to help small children recognize their feelings and find calm through connection with Allah.
  •  Screen-free Learning: Quran alone Storybooks and Audio Stories and  curated specifically for Yotto players and other screen-free devices.
  •  Gentle Motherhood: Parenting based on faith, intuition, and natural connection.
Living in a Christian country without following its traditions is a challenge. Actually, I think our path would be challenging in any country, because we don’t follow any tradition, and we’ve stepped away from the system. We aren’t really ‘integrated’ in society because of this path we’ve chosen. It is an intentional choice to live differently, focusing on what is pure and true, rather than what is popular.
